Dancer clip

Yellow gold, white gold, rubies, diamonds

Louis Arpels’ passion for ballet and opera provided inspiration for the first ballerina clips created by the Maison in 1941. The theme has been interpreted across a stunning range of jewelry and precious objects, from cuff links and blouse buttons to precious cases, bracelets, earrings, and necklaces.

Often depicted by a diamond, the dancer's face illuminates her figure, which is dressed in meticulously-rendered attire in gold tulle, sequins or set with precious stones. Inspired by costumes from various countries, the dancers’ finery lends each clip its distinct personality. Designers also pay close attention to the choice of poses. Indeed, the Maison’s archives are replete with true-to-life sketches of dancers, clearly demonstrating the importance attached to capturing movement.

This clip epitomizes all these characteristics: the ballerina's diamond face is crowned by a ruby bun, her body is arched and her openwork tutu seems to be flowing and twirling around her.
