The great narratives of architecture have, at times, been a wellspring of inspiration for Van Cleef & Arpels; as have the field’s groundbreaking innovations in form and scale. 20th-century architecture was deeply marked by the work of modernist masters such as Le Corbusier, Gropius and Mies van der Rohe. Their reflections on form and material were echoed in several precious objects created by the Maison. One of the best examples is the pure geometry in the Circle brooch of 1931, which recalls the architectural forms of the time.
