Ephemeral yet eternal, fragile yet immortal, nature wends through the entire history of the Maison. Since it was founded, Van Cleef & Arpels has been fascinated by the constant metamorphoses of the plant world, and has repeatedly captured the blooming of flowers and the delicate forms of leaves. There is great variety in the Maison’s representations of nature, which may be still or graced with movement, figurative or stylized. However, nature, as depicted by the Maison, is always instilled with poetry and vitality. The designs were notably inspired by botany, which has been both a science and a fashion since the end of the 18th century.
