Dahlia clip
White gold, sugarloaf emerald weighing
8.09 carats, diamonds
This Dahlia clip embodies the Maison’s revival of the White Jewelry aesthetic in the 1950s. The platinum mounting set with diamonds seems to portray the flower in three dimensions. The movement and undulation of the petals are precisely rendered and highly detailed from top to bottom. The ribs on the petals converge towards a central corolla, which seems to be blossoming. It delicately reveals a heart made from a sugarloaf-cut 8.09-carat emerald, whose intense color makes a striking contrast with the monochrome floral composition. This unique 1956 clip illustrates a High Jewelry aesthetic that departed from the Maison's line of more accessible "La Boutique" pieces launched in 1954. The Rose de Noël creations you can see here displayed near the Dahlia clip were part of that line.
