Cadenas wristwatch
Yellow gold, rubies
Did you know that in the early 20th century, it was considered inelegant for a lady to check the time in public? The Cadenas watch was invented by Van Cleef & Arpels to provide a neat solution for ladies, as it is equipped with an angled dial that only the wearer can see. Although, nowadays, the convention no longer exists, the creation has become one of the Maison’s most iconic pieces.
Van Cleef & Arpels has created precious watches ever since it was founded in 1906. In 1935, it unveiled a new model designed to combine beauty with functionality: the Cadenas watch. Its snake chains and pure lines attest to the influence of Modernism on the Maison's creations. This yellow gold model is enhanced by rows of calibrated rubies which add a touch of color to the precious timepiece.
